Importance of FSSAI License in Food Processing Industry

Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954 (PFA):

The Act has been amended a few times to come back as a power to combat the issues related to the circulation of faulty food items.
Vegetable Oil Product Order, 1947:

Meat Food Products Order, 1973:
This was passed to ensure that the quality of the meat made available to the consumers is optimum and safe for consumption. The companies which are involved in the processing of the meat products require obtaining this standard of certification.
Fruit Products Order, 1955:
This is an important mark of sanitation for the vendors who are involved in the processing and distribution of fruits and vegetable products. The vendors should ensure that the highest level of hygiene and sanitation is maintained for the processing of such items. The premises should be clean and sans any germs. The manufacturers of non-fruit products like syrup, vinegar, aerated drinks etc. are also required to obtain this license. The premises which are found to be unsafe for the production of such items can be penalized.
Edible Oil Packaging (Regulation) Order, 1988:
The objective of this Act is to ensure that the packaging of the edible oils should be done under optimum conditions. The companies involved in the packaging business of such products have to be equipped with the required certificate.
The Milk and Milk Products Order, 1992:
Under this Act, it is essential that the dairy products are processed and sold under perfect hygienic conditions. The person or dairy which is producing more than 10,000 liters of milk per day should be registered under this Act. This is compulsory as per the government law.
The Essential Commodities Act, 1955:
According to this act, it is essential that the essential commodities reach the consumers under favorable conditions and at the best prices. Any company who tries to violate the consumer rights by offering the commodities at an inflated price is liable for punishment. The laws are meant to be stringent so that the disturbing elements in the society can be stopped from making any unlawful production and distribution of the same product.
Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI), 2006:
This is one of the latest and popular marks of authenticity which the companies dealing in food products have to obtain. It has become an authentic mark of supplying quality food products to the consumers. As per the recent scenario, if any person or company wants to deal with the production, storage, distribution, sale, import or export of any food item has to obtain this mark of quality. It is meant to promote public health with the help of the regulation of proper and healthy food items.
AGMARK:
This is a mark of certification required for the production and sale of agricultural commodities. The products which fall into this category are pulses, cereals, vegetable oils, essential oils, fruits, and vegetables. It encompasses a range of products which are used for daily consumption.
